Highlights of Inclusive Design for App Development
The Technology Center at Beit Issie Shapiro promotes entrepreneurship and innovation in the area of assistive technology, with the intention to bring to market innovative solutions for people with disabilities that will improve their independence and quality of life.
As part of this vision, we established, together with PresenTense, the first and leading accelerator in the world dedicated to assistive technology – A3i (Accelerating Inclusion in Israel). In addition to the professional and business guidance provided through A3i, the Technology Center also provides services to startups and entrepreneurs not part of the accelerator that are looking to enter the market servicing people with disabilities and the elderly.
The Technology Center team, including therapists and educators, are experts in implementing technology for people with disabilities and are thus able to provide startups with an in depth understanding of users’ needs, helping them to adapt their product to address the needs of the market in the most accurate and optimal way. The professionals at the center are up to date on the latest trends and technologies in the market and use a broad perspective that considers the principles of universal and inclusive design to ensure the product meets the needs of the widest audience possible. The Technology Center provides guidance and consultation in all stages, from idea conception, to product characterization and development, through to implementation in the field. In addition, the Center offers assistance with research, evaluation and pilot testing, through the Research and Evaluation Unit at Beit Issie Shapiro.
