The Technology Center at Beit Issie Shapiro has developed, in collaboration with SAP Labs, Israel, a number of apps to meet the needs of people with disabilities. IssieBoard, is one of the apps borne out of this collaboration. The staff at Beit Issie Shapiro identify needs through their work with clients in the field and provide professional consultation to the development process, while the developers at SAP provide the technological and design expertise.
IssieBoard is a virtual keyboard app, for iOS, meant to improve the typing experience for people with disabilities. It was developed to be used by children and adults with various difficulties including, learning difficulties, visual impairments, and intellectual disabilities, but can be useful for anyone. It allows users to customize various visual features of the keyboard improving typing efficiency. It can be used with any app on the iPad or iPhone that requires typing input. It is currently available in English and Hebrew and is soon to be released in Arabic.
