Another year has come and gone and here we are heading into the High Holidays again. This year we are very happy to introduce you to the app JI Tap, a collaboration between Tiny Tap and Jewish Interactive. It is an open platform app that allows users to create customized interactive learning activities with Jewish content.
There are creation packs for all the High Holidays and even packs that are specifically geared for creating Rosh Hashana cards and flags for Simchas Torah. Once they are created in the app, a picture is saved in the photo gallery of your iPad, ready for printing and sharing.
Just like in the original Tiny Tap, you will find a catalog full of interesting games already created and shared by others. Among these games you can also find the games that our staff at Beit Issie Shapiro have created for our students. Download and enjoy!
Our games are in Hebrew, but once downloaded, can be re-recorded in English, should you prefer.
High Holidays
Learn all about the Holidays of Tishrei with Chagi and his family.
Rosh Hashana Counting
A basic math skills game for Rosh Hashana.
iShofar
A simple but great app. By blowing into the microphone you can create the different sounds of the shofar (teki’ah, shevarim, teru’ah). The different sounds can be a bit complicated to create, but the app can definitely be used to work on blowing skills and the feedback is great. It works even if the blowing is somewhat weak. The shofar will also sound by touching the screen, making it accessible for children who have trouble blowing.
WakeUpWorld
This is an interactive story for Rosh Hashana available both in Hebrew and in English. The central character tells the people and animals in her life all about the new year, and enlists the child’s help in doing so by asking them to blow on the shofar (into the microphone). The story is cute but is accompanied by background music that can be distracting, with no option to turn it off. Despite the music, we still recommend downloading this app because of the shofar blowing feature. As opposed to the previous app, in this one you can choose which shofar sound you wish t make by tapping on your choice. Blowing into the microphone then creates the sound you chose. It’s a fun way to learn about the different sounds of the shofar.
Wishing a Happy New Year to all!
