TOM – Professional Consultation for Makers Creating Solutions for People with Disabilities

TOM is a start-up, born out of the collaboration between the Reut Group and the ROI Schusterman Connection Points Program, that was established in the spirit of the Jewish value of tikkun olam, or “healing the world”. The start-up connects people from multiple areas including technology, design, engineering, and industry, with people with disabilities and their families, in order to find innovative solutions to their needs. All participants dedicate their time on a volunteer basis. A TOM event is a 3-day make-a-thon (a marathon of makers) in which teams develop a solution to a specific challenge brought forward by people with disabilities or their families. Beit Issie Shapiro collaborates with the TOM events by providing challenges from the field and by providing professional consultation to the maker teams.
